» Celebrating 75 Years of RYCO

Time for us to celebrate 75 years of RYCOAn Australian owned company, RYCO Hydraulics commenced manufacturing hoses, fittings, and filters in 1946.

Fast forward to 2021, RYCO Hydraulics has 75 years of experience under their belt and have expanded on a global scale with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, a global network of distribution centres, offices, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) hose assembly centres and RYCO 24•7 Service Centres.

Over the years, RYCO Hydraulics has established a commitment to quality, extensive research, and product development, placing RYCO at the forefront of the hydraulic industry. RYCO is now considered a global leader specialising in the design, manufacture, and distribution of a comprehensive range of hydraulic hose and fittings.

RYCO CEO Leigh Morrison said, “It’s an exciting time for RYCO. We’re growing. We’re expanding. And, most importantly we’re celebrating 75 years of business!”

RYCO Growth Story

1946: Origins
Australasian Steel Products Pty Ltd commences business in Australia. Under the direction of Mr W.J.K. Morrison and Mr W.J. Hayward, RYCO expanded the product range, and the main product line soon became quality hydraulic hose and fittings.

1950’s: Assembly Begins
Production of high pressure 5/8” one wire hose, field attachable couplings, adaptors, and assemblies begin.

RYCO continues to grow and expand its product range to meet and surpass the most stringent of industry requirements as well as cater for the ever-increasing needs of the hydraulic industry as a whole.

1977: Succession
Leigh Morrison begins his journey with RYCO and by 1986 he was appointed Managing Director.

Fast forward to today, Leigh is still very much a part of the RYCO heritage and history as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Forty plus years on Leigh is still passionate about RYCO hose and couplings and continues to inspire employees and customers alike with his innovation and energy.

2004: RYCO Malaysia
Grand Opening of the Kuala Ketil, Malaysia hose manufacturing facility.

RYCO hydraulic hose assemblies  are used globally by clients in technical industries such as constructionmining and marine where performance and reliability are critical.

With quality at its core, RYCO products comply or exceed independent third-party accreditations as well as relevant international standards such as ISO, SAE and EN (DIN).

2008: RYCO Expansion
Grand Opening of the following manufacturing and distribution centres:

  • Houston, United States: Assembly & Distribution Facility
  • Dalian, China: Manufacturing Facility
  • Auckland, New Zealand: RYCO Hydraulics

2010: RYCO 24•7
RYCO has increased its market coverage by establishing RYCO 24•7 Service Centers, Mobile Connector Specialists and Onsite Container Workshops in several countries around the world.

RYCO 24•7 offers a comprehensive service to many industries with emergency break down, programmed maintenance, OEM support, installation, and aftermarket businesses. Our professionally trained and dedicated teams are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week offering expert technical support for all types of hydraulic and industrial systems.

2020: Modern Facilities
RYCO Headquarters relocate from Footscray to a purpose-built facility in Derrimut, Australia. Our new premises have enhanced our despatch operations, ensuring product continue to be delivered on a timely and more efficient basis to our customers.

The new facility incorporates larger, advanced warehousing facilities along with modern, open plan office space. The state-of-the-art warehouse includes 11.5-metre-high racking which accommodates 5,700 pallets of stock – a 40% increase on our previous capacity.

2020: RYCO x Manuli Merger
Manuli Rubber Industries SpA (MRI), headquartered in Milan, Italy completed the acquisition of a majority of shareholding in RYCO.

The MRI Group, comprising of RYCO, RYCO 24•7, Manuli Hydraulics, and Fluiconnecto, has continued to grow with its increased focus and dedication to its customers. The robustness and drive of the combined business ensure its ability to thrive under any market condition.

The MRI – RYCO partnership has enabled both entities to leverage their resources, manufacturing capabilities and distribution channels and gain new markets, new customers, reaching new heights.
