RYCO 24•7 getting back to grass roots football and regional community support
RYCO 24•7 ambassador, Kevin Sheedy, made a special appearance in Warrnambool on Friday 8th February 2013 for a charity fundraiser organised by the East Warrnambool Football Club (EWFC) and Warrnambool Hydraulics.
The former Essendon player and coach and now coach of Greater Western Sydney, spent time at the Warrnambool Base Hospital with some of the intensive care patients and their families and visited the EWFC club. Here Kevin met with some of the junior and senior RYCO Bombers players and made an inspiring speech on the importance of youth football in AFL.
The Sportsman’s Night, which was centred on raising funds for the Leila Rose Foundation, followed immediately after at The Lady Bay Resort. The Leila Rose Foundation works towards fighting rare forms of children’s cancer by providing personal and financial support to families and sourcing the best possible treatment options from around the world. The sports memorabilia auction that night raised $7000 for The Leila Rose Foundation.
RYCO 24•7 are proud to have been a part of the event raising awareness and funds for a great cause as well as providing an opportunity for the local youth football players to meet a sporting legend in regional Australia.
