RYCO Melbourne staff and customers treated to ‘Hot Laps’ in the Macmahon V8 Racing Ute

As a result of RYCO sponsoring Gerard “The Maverick” McLeod in five rounds of the Australian V8 Ute Racing Series, we were invited by Gerard to bring customers and staff to the Sandown race track to participate in some ‘Hot Laps’ in his V8 Ute. A draw was held among the interested Melbourne staff and those lucky enough to be selected were treated to two incredibly fast (and truth be told slightly scary) ‘Hot Laps’. With Gerard at the wheel, you needed to put a lot of trust in his driving skills. As the first corner on the race track comes racing towards you, the feeling of relief as Gerard touches the brake pedal quickly disappears as he instead accelerates into the corner and you start to question his sanity and your own mortality. From this point on, and for the rest of your time in the passenger seat, you are in his very capable hands and it can be said that the adrenalin rush only gets better when he clicks the Ute into top gear at 195 kph down ...

MAC UTE out of luck on the Gold Coast

The Macmahon Racing team have walked away from Round 7 of the V8ute Championship on the streets of the Gold Coast left wondering what might have been after another run of bad luck ended what would have been a fantastic result. The weekend started with Gerard “Maverick” McLeod narrowly missing a Top 10 qualifying result ending up 11th at the end of the 20 minute session only 0.9 tenths of a second off pole position. The weekend’s final race saw McLeod starting from the rear of the field (28th) again on points tally and yet again McLeod was in the hunt early moving up to the top 20 within the first lap. McLeod then picked off another five cars lap by lap with an impressive drive to finish 15th at the end of the 12lap race. The eighth and final round of the V8ute championship is on the 5-7th December on the streets of Sydney’s Homebush Bay Olympic Park. You can keep up to date with all the V8ute news by logging onto the official V8ute website www.v8utes.com.au. ...

McLeod charges to finish in 2014

The Macmahon Racing team has endured a tough finish to the 2014 V8ute championship on the streets of Sydney’s Homebush Olympic Park but has come away with a list of positives to be proud of after its third season of racing. The weekend (5 – 7 December 2014) started fantastically for the team with consistent top 10 speed from the MAC UTE during Friday’s two 20-minute practice sessions leaving the team very confident leading into Saturday’s (6 December 2014) qualifying session. Saturday morning brought the ever important qualifying session and McLeod was instantly to the top of the time sheets in 4th overall. After a quick pit-stop to adjust tyre pressures McLeod tried to better his pervious time but was unable to after catching slower traffic ending the session in 10th overall only 0.9secs off pole position. Sunday’s Race 2 saw McLeod start in 29th position quickly making up 9 positions on the opening lap. The race was cut short due to a safety car period but McLeod was able to end the race in 13th overall passing and incredible 16 utes in ...

See the Ute meet the Driver Day at RYCO 24•7 Ingleburn and RYCO 24•7 Mascot

On Wednesday the 3rd of December Gerard “Maverick” McLeod made himself and his V8 Ute available to the RYCO 24•7 Service centres in Sydney to meet with customers and staff. Gerard gave everyone a bit of insight in to how and what it takes to run a Ute in this highly competitive class of motor racing. Many attendees were surprised at the amount of physical and financial commitments these guys make to this class of incredibly close racing as well as what it takes to create the spectacle it is and that is why it is such a firm favourite with the fans. We would like to thank Gerard for his efforts this year, both on and off the track to help us in our drive to gain exposure and brand recognition for RYCO 24•7 . Thanks again Gerard ...
